As in any craft, each stage of the process is crucial for the end result. Salima Thakker is a jeweler who takes her craft seriously and asked us to use our paper crafts as a medium to tell her process in jewelry making.
In five steps, we illustrated her process, from the first ideas to the final result.
This is a series of small jewelry displays that will showcase Salima's artwork at her store window in Knokke, Belgium.

Creativity and Materials
Every craftsman is a creative who starts with inspiration from what they love and what they work with. Salima Thakker is an experienced stonesmith who starts her creative process by brainstorming and writing notes, and then dives directly into the material.
Forming
From the idea into action. Picking up materials, gems, and metals and starting to shape them into reality.
Soldering
Molding the materials with fire is essential to prepare the metals to receive the gems and to give the correct shape to the imagined jewel.
Stone setting
One of the most important steps for a jeweler is correctly and safely applying the stone that will be the center of the jewel.
Polishing
The craft isn't over until the piece is perfect for the smith. Polishing and adding the last details will show how a jewel can go from a simple adornment to a work of art.
